Hearts of Gold Police Family Outreach

This financial support program is designed to help both the sworn and non-sworn members of the department who are in crisis as a result of a catastrophic illness, injury, or accident. We serve members who have children suffering from on-going disabilities and need an additional helping hand.

Sponsored by the Tucson Police Department, Tucson Police Foundation. For teens aged 16 to 19. Learn off-road recovery, evasive steering, skid recovery and more, from TPD driving instructors.

Santa Cop

Santa Cop

TPD officers have been using their own money to purchase toys, which they carry in their patrol cars to help alleviate the stress the children feel in domestic violence situations, collisions, and other calls for help. To help the officers, we are requesting the donation of a new unwrapped toy for this holiday season.

Gang Outreach Unit

Created in July 2007 as part of Chief Richard Miranda's strategic plan "to enhance police operations through presence, assignment and deployment strategies." Chief Miranda's vision was to create a gang unit focused on intervention and prevention to stop future violence by reducing gang membership.

K9

Service Dog Unit (K-9)

The Tucson Police Department Service Dog unit consists of nine police officers (dog handlers) and one supervisor. All the dogs in the unit are dual-purpose German Shepard males. The K-9 teams all work on the streets of Tucson in a support role for uniformed patrol officers.

Teen Academy

Teen Citizens' Police Academy

The Tucson Police Department Teen Citizens' Police Academy is modeled after the Citizens' Police Academy and is designed to give young people the opportunity to learn about the Tucson Police Department and its operations, and to demonstrate the benefits of law enforcement and community policing in our city.

Tucson Police Explorer Post 2180

Serving the City of Tucson and the surrounding community since 1966, Tucson Police Explorer Post 2180 offers young men and women a chance to challenge themselves mentally and physically while working with active members of Tucson Police Department. Explorers have always been a willing participant to TPF activities.
